Just Another Day
Since the über-microscope was in use, and we had nothing better to do, Indy’s Finest and I decided to take a leisurely lunch hour(s) and check out the brand new Ikea in my neighborhood. Huge, labyrinthine, kind of cool, and a very very high MILF quotient, but does anyone really need all that shite? Then over to Carver’s for some incredible-as-always barbecue pork, mac and cheese, cheese bread, sweet tea, and hot peach cobbler. Return to campus, and who do we run into on the walk back to the lab but the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ own B.J. Elder. He’s a lot less yoked in person than he is on TV, and he and his crew hopped into his Escalade – stock rims, since he’s still just a rookie free agent. Not 20 minutes back to work, and I’m rudely interrupted by the fire alarm. Back out into the heat and stickiness, where we find out there’s been a chemical spill in the Tropical President’s lab, and even though he didn’t drop the bottle of solvent it immediately started to react and evaporate so he had to strip and get hosed down by the Hazmat crew along with the offending labmate, and then go to the hospital for observation – he was bummin’. Not funny, but the rest of us laughed anyway. Locked out of the building the rest of the afternoon, at least I got to lay in the grass in a food coma, work on my tan a little bit, and hit on the chick summer undergrad research fellows a lot. It’s ‘anta in the summertime, baby.
