So I’m Watching Six Nations Rugby. . .
. . .and the thought has occurred to me, why can’t rugby union become a popular sport here in America? You’re telling me that folks on a Sunday wouldn’t want to watch Ireland-Wales Six Nations or Brumbies-Crusaders Super 14 instead of a Falcons-Saints bore-fest? I say that’s bullshit. There’s lots of scoring, even more hitting and violence, and the sport isn’t too much different than American football – if you’ve seen a college team run the wishbone, it won’t be hard for you to get up to speed with rugby union. Now I know there are probably a lot of folks who won’t want to watch because the US isn’t the best in the world at it, but I would certainly be open to changing that – and my first suggestion, after he’s suspended officially by the NFL, is for USA Rugby to sign up Ricky Williams. This could work people, I’m telling you!
